If you are a teacher in an infant, junior, primary or middle school and have to do music with your class - or indeed the whole school, MUSICWorld is just what you need.
What is it?
MUSICWorld is a resource magazine which aims to help your classroom activities with 'sound' ideas and brand new material each term. All the material may be photocopied by members, so enough copies for a whole class can be made when appropriate. The magazines contain sound awareness games, competitions, special offers, projects, a members' queries service, songs, instrumental pieces and graphic scores. Each activity / song / instrumental piece is clearly marked with Key Stages (as well as the Scottish Levels).
When did it begin?
The Club started in 1988, the inspiration of Douglas Coombes, one of the country¹s leading music educators and composers. Douglas saw the need for teacher support through his own almost daily contact with primary schools in the course of working with and writing for children. He brings together this vast experience of children, classroom needs and knowledge of music into the magazines of the MUSICWorld Club.
What do I get?
Club members (and there are more than 1500 nationwide) receive 3 magazines a year - one each term - packed full of music and good, practical ideas for the primary classroom. The material is clearly explained with lots for both specialist and non-specialist - in fact, for many of the ideas presented you don't even have to be able to read music. Your membership also includes the right to photocopy MUSICWorld material for use in your own school. There is a members' special request / query service. The modest fee for academic year 2007 - 2008 is only £10.00 [overseas members UK£15.00]. There are regular special offers in the magazines.
How do I join?
Enrol any time during the academic year [September 1 to August 31]. Membership is renewable each September, so if you enrol at any other time you will receive all back issues for that academic year. WHY NOT JOIN NOW?
